Operating force is not bottom-out force

How to compare published force fields without treating every gram value as the same measurement.

KEYSWITCH LAB DATA DESKMETHOD REVIEW 2026.08

Name the point on the curve

Operating force describes the force at the switch’s operating point under the manufacturer’s method. Initial force, tactile peak, return force and bottom-out force are different values. If a product page publishes only operating force, the other points remain unknown.

Keep tolerance attached

A published 45±15 gf range is not equivalent to an exact 45 gf measurement. The register preserves tolerance because two nominally similar products can have broad overlapping ranges.

Do not rebuild a curve from two numbers

Pre-travel and total travel can be located on a shared axis, but they do not reveal the force between those points. Keyswitch Lab does not invent a force–travel trace from operating force alone.
